Track List of 'Memory Almost Full' leaked ??? : Updated

The tracklist was posted on the Starbucks Gossip blog (click here) by poster AppleWorm (Thanks to jgkojak). It claims to be the "Advance Tracklisting" from the upcoming Paul McCartney release " MEMORY ALMOST FULL". As you can tell by the brief descriptions, this person seems to have had a quick listen to the album. This has not be verified from any of my sources as yet, hence the advance tracklist so it is expected some tracks may vary slightly. Or this entire list of songs may be bogus, either way I felt obligated to post this news with a warning that this has not been verified to my satisfaction to-date.


The Rolling Stone article posted here in the news on April 7th (click here) has a quote from Glen Barros, CEO of Starbucks partner Concord Music Group. He of course has heard the album and he said, "It's him being reflective". McCartney played most of the instruments on this collage-style disc, which includes a fifteen-minute Abbey Road-style suite. "You can hear real elements of the Wings and Beatles eras." So this part of the album we know is there.

The lyrics for "To Be Said" and "Pictures in Song Suite" have been found and added at the bottom of this article. These were poems in Paul's "Blackbird Singing".

5. Robber of Soul - Funky jazz/brass number, unlike anything in catalog so far.

6. Cracks in the Earth - Elec piano ballad, sounds like a chaos track.

8. It Happens Every Time - Tight tight rocker, best song here.

9. Silent Water - Piano/organ/electronica song- nice lyrics.

10. God Damn Rock 'n Roll - Sounds like a BTTE outtake- almost punk.

11. Pizza and Fairytales - Most Beatle-esue- reminds of Return to Pepperland.

12. Pictures in Song Suite - Almost 15 minutes- a true song suite, divided into four movements- most people won't get how good this is.

First single from "Memory Almost Full"

Reportedly the first single from McCartney's "Memory Almost Full" will be the first song on the album called "Dancing Tonight."

There is a video to accompany the song which includes a Paul "lookalike." The video was directed by Michel Gondry and stars Mackenzie Crook, Natalie Portman and Macca impersonator Neil Tudor.

The advance album spoiler posted by Steve Hoffman is the 'real track listing' though not all the song titles names are correct except for the first one reported by the Macca Report.

Song titles updated by Macca Report

1. "Dance Tonight" (Macca Report found out the name of this song)- Short album opener. Instrumentation includes ukelele (some similarities to Harrison's "Any Road", kick drum (lockstep, martial beat) and whistling. Similar to "We're Open Tonight" in sentiment, the lyric is a trifle but track is brief/fun enough. This will be the first single off the album with a video (Macca Report Exclusive)

2. "My Ever Present Past" (title?) - Musically quirky (McCartney II fans will love this one), hooky and clever with great lyrics, addictive robotic rhythm, nifty distorted guitar riffs and terrific double-tracked vocals. Fully realized top-drawer Macca Pop in every respect. Opening line: "I've got too much on my plate - I've got no time to be a decent lover". A+

3. "See Your Sunshine" (title?) Creative, commercial pop love song with wonderful bass playing. Echoes of Linda in the background vocal department (as on "Run Devil Run", the vocal ghost of Linda shows up repeatedly throughout the album, as least to my ears). Middle section features a neat tempo change and fastly sung lyric. Romantic. Accapella ending.

4. "Only Mama Knows" (title?) Orgasmically great Power Pop! Back To The Egg-esque energy! Great vocal! Junior's Farm-esque gutbucket feel, quirky lyric, lots of Linda/Denny/Wings guitar energy. My early favorite, rocks like a bitch!

5. "You Tell Me" - Stunning, heartfelt, bittersweet non-silly, post-love song, Acoustic based with great confessional lyric (ala "Dear Friend") and astounding, emotional vocal. Very Wings - echoes of Denny and Linda abound. "When was that summer of a dozen words" (let the Heather/divorce lyric hunting begin).

6. "Mr. Bellamy" (title?) - I can't believe how great this track is; the odd, glorious musical structure and chord changes will surprise you at every turn. An A Cappella breakdown to die for. VERY early 10CC (think "Sheet Music"), with goofy vocal interjections (if you are familiar with 10CC's "The Worst Band in The World" you're halfway there).

7. "Gratitude" - Pop/gospel w/shouty, "Oh, Darling" vocal. Nice tune and interesting arrangement but overemoting vocal ruins it for me. Possible grower.

8. "Vintage Clothes" (title?) - not positive but I think this is the first track of the album-ending Medley, ala RRSpeedway/ARoad. Lyrically a modern-day "Dedicated Follower of Fashion"-a tongue in cheek (I think) sendup/lampooning of modern clothing/fashion trends. Possibly inspired by daughter/clothing designer Stella? Strong lyric, ultrahooky tune and great arrangement, w/Beatlesque swirly backwards mellotrons and highly compressed tack piano (the opening piano riff is almost identical to Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Love Me"). Perfect pop.

9. "That Was Me" (title?) Backwards drum loop, rockabilly guitar riffs on acoustic, with great dissonant piano stabs, ala "I Want To Tell You". Autobiographical lyric speaks of/chronicles events in Paul's childhood, The Cavern Club, success...

10. "Feet In The Clouds" (title?) - Top track, features Brian Wilsonesque vocal breakdown section (with vocodor!) and another strong autobiographical lyric.

11. "House Of Wax" (title?)- moody, forboding, cinematic - think a darker "Beware My Love". Great lyric/arrangement, unexpected chord changes from heaven, screaming guitar solos and one of Paul's best vocals ever.

12. "The End Of The End" - touching, confessional album closer, unlike anything that Paul has recorded. The lyric speaks to how he would like to be remembered/celebrated after he's gone. A heavy lyric tempered by upbeat, song-closing whistling coda (echoing whistling on opening track).

13. "Nod Your Head" (title?) - Silly, brief album closer, ala "Boil Crisis". Probably (hopefully) a bonus/hidden track. Musically similar to the also-hidden instrumental track that closes Chaos (sounds like the same session).

Buena aportacion. Como dato curiosos, el titulo "Pizza and Fairytales" salio de una discusion post-Beatle de John y Paul por telefono. Luego, John empezo a criticar la musica de Paul y le dijo "Your music is just Pizza and Fairytales" (Tu musica es solo pizza y cuentos de hadas) y le colgo. Tiempo despues, a Paul le gustaron esas palabras para una cancion, y es asi como ahora nos presenta esta cancion, que, segun algunos, es la mas beatlesca del disco.

La verdad que el segundo tracklisting parece todavía mejor que el primero, no me importa cual de los dos sea, lo quiero ya jaj... espero que los que hacen los reviews no se hayan pasado demasiado de optimistas.

¿Y Sir Paul tocará casi todo otra vez? ¿O se sabe ya quiénes lo acompañan?

La mención de que incluye ukelele en un tema, como hizo George en su último disco, no me sorprende tanto. Desde hace buen tiempo me ha parecido que Paul empezó a ver el éxito que cosechaba George con algunos temas y tomó lo bueno de eso. Por ejemplo, "Hope of Deliverance" toma el ritmo inicial de "New Blue Moon", esa especie de regreso al cha-cha-chá. Y Macca ha tocado ukelele en concierto para homenajear a Harrison al cantar "Something". Y recordemos que en el álbum VENUS AND MARS incluso tiene un tema con una melodía de tipo hindú. Me parece bien que Paul busque darle más variedad a su sonido.

Y eso si tenemos en cuenta que Paul es el Beatle que mas variedad de sonido le ha dado a sus canciones.

Respondiendote a lo que aqui preguntaste, yo lei que Paul toco la mayoria de los intrumentos en la mayoria de los temas pero no todos. Por consiguiente no sera llamado McCartney III como se dijo en un principio (todos sabemos que el McCartney III fue el Chaos).
Por otra parte las criticas parecen muy optimistas esperemos que no sean los mismos criticos que nos dieron falsas esperanzs con el Driving Rain.

PRODUCTOR DE ÁLBUM DE PAUL NIEGA QUE LISTADO DE TEMAS DE 'MEMORY ALMOST FULL' SEA CIERTO

Varios listados de probables canciones del nuevo álbum de Paul McCartney , llamado MEMORY ALMOST FULL , han aparecido en Internet. El más notable de todos aparece 'online' en el blog starbucksgossip.typepad.com. Cita 12 títulos de canciones, da una descripción de cada tema, e incluso trae la letra de la primera y última canción del álbum. David Khane, el productor del disco , declaró al website maccareport.com que la información era falsa, que no tiene nada que ver con el disco aunque resulta divertido.

En anteriores oportunidades McCartney permitía que circule la información sobre el listado de canciones así como copias promocionales de su nuevo álbum antes de la salida oficial del mismo. El disco está anunciado para el 5 de junio. En realidad no se sabe si Hear Music está dejando que gente de su interior tenga acceso a apreciar el nuevo trabajo de Macca o si estos reportes son bromas.

Nota

Dado que el listado de canciones ha aparecido en este mes lo más probable es que sea una broma del 'DIA DEL TONTO' que se conmemora el 1 de abril. Todos los años aparecen noticias bien elaboradas para que fans incluso conocedores se confundan. Una de las más notables fue una caja de material nunca antes editado de sesiones de REVOLVER. Incluía páginas de detalles de los discos, fotos y hasta promocionaba un video.

MEMORY ALMOST FULL DE PAUL McCARTNEY - 30.04.2007
Memory Almost Full saldrá el Lunes 4 de Junio del 2007

Realmente comencé este álbum, Memory Almost Full antes de mi último álbum Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (lanzado en septiembre de 2005). La primera sesión de la grabación fue en el otoño de 2003 en Abbey Road con mi banda de gira y el productor David Kahne. Estaba en la mitad de eso cuando comencé a platicar con Nigel Godrich sobre un nuevo proyecto (que se convirtió en Chaos And Creation In The Backyard).

Cuando estaba por acabar todo lo concerniente con Chaos y obtuve las nominaciones de los Grammys (2006), me dí cuenta que tenía este album y tenía que regresar a terminarlo. Entonces tuve que escucharlo de nuevo, preguntándome si todavía lo disfrutaría, pero actualmente lo amo. Todo lo que hice al principio fue solamente escuchar un par de cosas y entonces empecé a pensar ' OK, me gusta este tema – ahora -, que es lo malo en él?. Y pudo haber sido algo como un sonido del tambor, entonces re-percusione y vi a donde llegaríamos.

Lo tomé de allí y lo empecé a construir. Fui a través de pista por pista, realizando cambios mientras avanzaba. Arreglé cosas que no me entusiasmaban y lo desarrollé de allí. Sin mi saber, o solo intentando, comenzó a tener su propio tema, una clase de tema de retiene todo junto. Entonces supuse que se trataba de mitad material nuevo y mitad material antiguo del 2003.

En partes es una grabación muy personal y mucho de esta es retrospectiva, dibujando de memoria, como los recuerdos de cuando era un niño, de Liverpool y de veranos que se fueron. El álbum es evocador, emocional, rockero, pero no puedo realmente resumirlo en una oración.

Hay un medley (pupurri) de 5 canciones hacia el final y ése fue a propósito retrospectivo. Pensé que esto pudo ser porque estoy en este punto en mi vida, pero entonces pienso en los tiempos que escribía con John y lo mucho de eso también regresó. ¡Es como yo en 'Penny Lane' y 'Eleonor Rigby'- todavía sigo con los mismos trucos!

Sé que la gente va a ver algunas de las canciones y las va a interpretar de diversas maneras pero éste ha sido siempre el caso. La cosa es que amo escribir canciones, así que apenas escribo y escribo. Nunca consigo realmente un punto donde comienzo a pensar 'voy a escribir sobre temas específicos'. Inevitable sin embargo, lo qué estoy pensando va a encontrar su manera en lo que estoy haciendo.

La pista del comienzo del álbum es ' Dance Tonight '. Recientemente me conseguí una mandolina y solo estaba tocando con ella y vinieron las bases de la pista. Hace dos semanas hicimos el vídeo, el cual fue una gran diversión. Fue dirigido por Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) y las estrellas Natalie Portman y Mackenzie Crook. No voy a dar la trama. Tendrás que ir y verla por ti mismo, pero pasamos un buen rato haciéndola.

El título del álbum vino después de que hube acabado todo. Para mí, éso es cuando vienen normalmente, a excepción quizá de Sgt. Peppers, si no, no pienso que siempre haya hecho un álbum con los Beatles, Wings o a solas donde haya pensado en un título y un concepto. Pensaba de qué podría resumir la cosa entera y la ''Memory Almost Full' se vino a la mente. Es una frase que parecía abrazar la vida moderna; en la vida moderna nuestros cerebros pueden estar un poco sobrecargados. Me di cuenta que también lo había visto venir en mi teléfono algunas veces. Cuando comencé a redondear la idea con algunos amigos, casi todos tenían diversos significados de ella, pero todos decían que les encantaba. Así que la retroalimentación ayudó a solidificar el titulo.

Después de terminar el álbum entonces comencé a pensar en las ilustraciones del álbum y cómo quería que se vieran. Realmente deseé hacer el CD un objeto deseable. Algo que se que desearía tomar del estante, algo que haría a la gente curiosear. Espero que nuestro concepto final haya hecho eso. La cubierta del album incluye un trabajo de un amigo mío, Humphrey Ocean. como en las letras del álbum, estoy esperando ansiosamente el ver cómo la gente pueda interpretar las ilustraciones.

Actualmente comienzo la promoción de prueba y comienzo a conseguir las primeras partes de la retroalimentación sobre el álbum hasta ahora tan bueno! Es interesante ahora como estoy consiguiendo oír lo que está haciendo la gente de las canciones y cuáles son sus sentimientos. También estoy hablando del álbum mismo y realmente estoy gozando del proceso del descubrimiento.

Realmente gocé el hacer de este álbum con David Kahne y estoy orgulloso de todas las canciones. Tuvimos un rato estupendo. Espero que la diversión que tuvimos se comunique a la gente que va a escucharlo.
